Reality Check.

No, I have not given up in blogging if you're wondering. I may have lost some interest in blogging though. It's the time factor once again.

I've been getting up at the crack of dawn everyday for the past few weeks. Before hols. During hols. (Mum + Shopping = Eva getting up early to shop so that no second is left wasted ) After hols. So before I make a reality check, let's do some flashbacks. Let's see.. Where do I start....
Ahhh, Singapore Trip.
I can summarize it all into one sentence.
I spent most of my time shopping with dear mum and unfortunately ended up with nothing for myself. Well not exactly nothing, I got to stay in The Fullerton for one night ( WOOHOO!! ), ate lotsa good food and ended up getting a bag filled with Seventeen Magazine, Singapore. HAH! That's something.

Okay, I was wrong. I couldn't exactly summarize that into one sentence.

COMPLIMENTARY CHOCOS!

My face looks so big here. And it was just my first day there..

Tea time!

Chocolate buffet @ Fullerton. I had this for supper. Blissful.

Missing you already, my dear Fullerton!

Button who shed some light.

Zambry stays in my neighbourhood.

ZAMBRY STAYS IN MY NEIGHBOURHOOD???? He just tarnished Taman Golf's reputation. It's a disgrace I tell yah. On the other hand, LAT, the cartoonist, well known for the Kampung Boy drawings stays in my neighbourhood too. Who knows? Maybe I'll win the Nobel Prize in the future and residents of Taman Golf will be proud that I spent my early years here. Okay, maybe not the Nobel Prize Winner, but I will definitely want to leave a mark or at least make a significant change in the world before I depart to meet The Almighty and um, angels who feed you grapes? I mean, I don't want to just live life without achieving my goals and as for the purpose in life,( which I have yet to find unfortunately ) what really is the purpose of living? Life life life.. So many questions, but how do we truly learn life lessons? Learning from mistakes?
Watch a movie?

I gave 'watch a movie' a try. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Benjamin, born as a baby with a physical appearance of an old man and eventually grows younger as he ages. In a nutshell, he ages in reverse. Which is unusual, which captured my interest to watch it in the first place. Not because of Brad Pitt's fine, beyond fine appearance and physique, I'm proud to say but I must say, he made my knees weak while watching this movie and thank God you're suppose to sit in a cinema. Back to Benjamin, he learns what life is in a unique way. All of us learn as we age, but Benjamin on the other hand learns as he grows younger putting him and us at the two extreme ends. Mark Twain once said that it's a pity that the best part of life happens in the beginning and the worst part at the end. Hence, the tale of Benjamin Button to see whether life will be better if the best things in life came at the end and the worst at the beginning. So at the end of the day, does it really matter whether where life starts or ends? A thought-provoking movie, ain't it?
6 bucks well spent, Eva.

Frogs. Is it okay to jump?

Frogs. Frogs jump, obviously. They jump and jump but some jumped over to the other side of the river. Three frogs to be precised. The others stayed put. Protesting and furious with the three traitors. Why would those three frogs jump all the way to the other side of the river? Is the grass greener there or The King of The Other Side of The River simply offered them more flies to chew on? But the question is, with three frogs down, who would be the new ruler of The River? So to make things fair, the furious frogs consulted The King of All Kings who was said to be wise, just and fair. Was. After some thought, he declared that The King of The Other Side of The River will definitely be the ruler of The River. The frogs were furious, was the decision made also because The King of The Other Side of The River offered The King of All Kings more flies if he was crowned as the ruler? We will never know. But we know one thing's for sure. The King of The Other Side of The River may have won the battle this time with such dirty tactics, but they will not win the war, for the frogs of The River will always remember who was once the rightful ruler of The River.

Oh yeah, talking bout frogs. I CAN'T FIND ANY FROGS TO DISSECT FOR TOMORROW'S BIO LESSON!
You know, we really need to be concern about our country's politic situation and not just America's. Yes, Obama's decision about some issues will affect our country in some ways but dude, you're living here not there after all. So search the web, read the newspapers from now on! Log on to Malaysia Kini for more info about our state's current political news!

Haha. I just find it necessary to add this pic along.

When Chinese New Year Strikes ..

Finally an update from me ey??? Even I couldn't stand my dying blog.

I'm back with more updates about how I celebrated CNY 2009. I would say this year's Chinese new year didn't turn out to be that boring. Quite eventful to be honest. As usual, I went back to Sungai Siput ( in case you don't know where it is, its somewhere near Chemor where there's no Starbucks, poor radio signals and The Store as their most happening mall ), where both my dad and mum spent half of their lifes there. God knows what they did to entertain themselves back in the 60's ! Actually I do know what they did. They jumped into a mining pool in their undies, played with cow dungs and strummed songs from The Beetles on the guitar. I went back to their hometown this year only to know that most of my cousins are mothers already (!!!!) and I'm still in my late teens. I wonder what took my parents so long to bring me into this world. Fate? Haha. So, it's great to see your extended family once in a while just to see how they're doing and how many pounds they gained over the year. Unfortunately, my earnings this year ain't a big sum. Bigger than last year's since most of my cousins are mothers already (!!!!) But CNY isn't all about the red packets right? It's part of it but mostly it's about gambling, baby! And spending time with your family 24/7.

That's just for the first 2 days of CNY. Then I made my way to Cameron Highlands. It's been ages since the last time I set foot in Cameron Highlands. It didn't felt like I was in Malaysia, with the cool air and the Ye Olde Smokey House ( A very cosy English cottage. A must to go there the next time you're up in the Highland. ) Unfortunately, my phone, which I loved and still love very much passed away on my way up to Camerons. Natural death probably. Sis reckons it's the altitude problem -.- That explains why I have not uploaded any pics so far. Bear with my picture-less post for awhile, please. Oh and it's not certified dead till it's sent to Sony Ericsson Service Centre. So cross your fingers, people!

Day 3 of CNY - Becky's Tea Party. Also my first time playing the Play Station and the joystick all. Interesting I have to say. I know, laugh all you want but seriously, I have not even touched a PS before. PSP or PS1 , etc.. The only game I play is um Bejeweled ? Haha. I bet Kim had a great laugh playing with a Play Station illiterate person. And Becky's bro, Michael looked quite annoyed that I couldn't operate the joystick properly... Oh and the muffins, tasty!

Day 4 of CNY is the paling happening one man. I've even made new friends whom I only know by name. And Sis's friends came over to my place to pai nin. Which of course involves gambling and they practically swallowed down all the New Year cookies. I tried to ask them for donations for 4th Unit's Gathering but to no avail. Except for Wai Soon who kind heartedly donated 5 bucks. So I decided to gamble to earn the donations! Smart ey? Funny lot, those people. And then I tagged along to my sister's ( extremely hot and funny and friendly and dances like Rain and he can sing!!!! ) friend house. Then later on, Sueli and Jee An also came over to pai nin too. What are 3 miserable people to do in my house? Gamble again lah! What else? :D

I'm still living in denial after a week of break from reality.
I already have lots on my plate.. 4th Unit Ranger's Gathering, P&J Newsletter lah, ATCL exam lah, Moral Folio which I have no idea what to do thanks to Mr Perverted Head Lau, homework lah,
Damn it, I haven't even finish my homework yet.

School's in for about a week already. Another solid proof that time literally flies. Time travels as fast as the Japanese bullet train. No, more of like the speed of light. Anyway, you get my point. So 5BR was placed in a not so strategic place this year, fully equipped with most probably a century old tables ( It's either students back in those days are nothing but skin and bones or the books they use are miniature cos I must say, the tables are limiting the space for necessary movements and of course, room to chuck the books. ) , girls screaming as though Doom's Day came earlier during PJ lessons and not to mention big Form 1 and Form 2 kids running around by midday. Albeit these flaws of the place 5BR was situated, what matters most is the people, eccentric friends in it. We first stepped into this ancient, colonial building of our school not knowing what to expect, only hoping for the best. We lost some friends but gained some new ones along the way.

I guess it was hard for you that to know that it would be your last day being a student here along with us. Knowing that it will be the last time you'll walk along the corridors in your school uniform. Okay, I'm just assuming that's the feeling you'll feel or maybe you're just rejoicing that you can finally cut boring old school days. Hahaa. Anyhow, my sister warned me that this day, the day where your friends will leave to live their separate life's would come one day so appreciate them while you still can. I'm not sure whether that was exactly what I did because I find myself trying to distant myself a bit more from everyone day by day so that it wouldn't be that hard to say goodbye when the time finally comes. And I want to stop myself from building a wall between my friends and I because by doing so, I will not be able to enjoy my last year of schooling with the amazing friends that I have, who are different in their own ways and I have learnt to accept that. I will probably look back one fine day when I'm finally fully-developed mentally (physically as well) furious with my dim-witted decision to be so concerned about the future that I've forgotten about the present. So here it goes, you're great even if you fart out loud in class. I know it sounds cheesy and all but thank you, Kim for being a friend of mine.

I sound like I'm writing an obituary and you're already dead ( touch a lot of wood ) right? Hahaaa.

I have no idea why my posts are getting touchy-er these days.....

Happy (?) 2009 !

Yes, WhAt tHe hEcK?! It's 2009 already?

(p/s: A BIG THANK YOU TO THE GODDESS for everything in the picture! :D )

My feeble attempt to stop the time. I figured out if Hiro from Heroes can do it, why can't I?

And then I realised, I'm not a Hero... And I'm still living in denial.

Since I'm not a Hero, and I can't do anything to stop the time from moving like a bullet train, I might as well just embrace 2009 with arms wide open! I don't know what the future holds for me so I'll just go with the flow for now and be optimistic about it. Come what may! I reckon leaving 2008 will not be as hard as ending 2009. But that doesn't mean leaving 2008 is not painful. (Kim, you better let me smell your fart before you let out your farts in another continent!)

16 things I've achieved in 2008! & 17 things I will try to achieve in 2009!

still drafting.

i shall do it soon.

Of Christmas and New Year.

This year's Christmas was spent with friends and family. That should be the way right? Not by clubbing your Christmas away. What's the true meaning of Christmas then? (:
It was also my first time celebrating Christmas with Catholics. I would say that it was an eye-opening experience cos firstly, I'm not a Christian and I have never felt the christmasy atmosphere at home. All in all, thank you, Suiee and your warm family for sharing your Christmas with me and also for showing me what Christmas means to you!

At Vanessa's House.

To the whole eccentric gang of 4BR, this is the hotel in Penang I told you guys about.
With their very own private beach.
The plan is still on, people! Dad already agreed to let us have a vacation there.
I CAN'T WAIT TILL POST-SPM!!!

Can't wait to sink you teeth in that? :D

What Happened in .... Taman Golf.

Reasons why you shouldn't live beside a river during rainy seasons or heavy downpours :

Indoor pond look-a-like.

I even spotted a teeny weeny tadpole.

Pardon my feet. Had to put it somewhere since the floor was wet.

The water looks clean here but actually..

....its this colour. Probably a mixture of cow dung and sewage water.
Oh and dried leaves, little fishes and tadpoles.

An unhappy Diva cleaning up her house.
Which took her about 1 day to clean up her whole entire house with the help of
Dad, Mum, Aunt and maidy.
Lucky sis for being temporarily disabled. All she had to do was to supervise. -.-

Even after this misfortune, I still like can't think of a better place to stay despite not having any friends living near by. Peaceful area, I tell ya!

An Early Christmas Present.

Before I write this post, I would like to justify my long absence from Foon & Spork. I guess there's always an excuse why isn't my blog updated. (: This time, I would say so many things happened ( including life-threatening experience ) consecutively that leaving Foon & Spork to collect dust and ignoring my social life for now seems to be the right thing to do. So, please do accept my utmost sincere apology,my fellow loyal readers ( if there are any ) !

Firstly, I would like to write a bit about the Sam Tet's 48th Annual Gathering. Most of you all know that the fees charged was RM 25.00 ( the most costly gathering I've ever attended so far) by now. Considering it has been almost a week since the gathering was held. RM25.00 is considered as a big sum of cash in a poor student's world, like me! And yet, I insisted to go for this event cos I know this gathering would probably be the last one that I'll ever attend due to SPM next year. I insisted to go even though the attendance from most schools were abysmal. I insisted to go even though the fees was an absurd amount even if God-knows how much from that amount was for charity. Not to mention, their lack of time management skills. I admit that I thought this gathering was a waste of money and time and the lamest gathering ever by midday. Absolutely convinced, in fact cos of the oh-so-poor attendance from most schools except for Poi Lam, of course. By night, by the time I set my foot into Yuk Choy's Hall, I would say 39th Kinta Troop gained back my respect. The decorations, the backdrop, the jaw-dropping gadget at the entrance of the hall blew me away. The decorations especially! That 'wow' factor did not stop there. When they gave away cheques to representatives of a few old folks' home and children's home, I definitely felt I did the right thing to attend this gathering. It feels good to know that you probably contributed to the little and elderly ones in making their lives a better one or maybe even made this year's Christmas celebration a remarkable one to them. I guess that truly is the true meaning of Christmas. A season of giving!

Oh and for the awards received, log on to Angie's !

Now, for the life threatening experience, it didn't occur to me. It was my sister. This incident not only taught a few life lessons to her, but also to me. She was recently robbed by an armed man in the worst place to raise a child ( maybe just to me cos I'm sort of a small town kid ), KL. The aftermath? A deep slash on her left arm. Deep enough to cut her nerve. I can imagine the blood splattering out. Shudders* It's funny how money can make humans act so inhumanely, right? The moment of realisation for me was I was so close to losing my sister, okay maybe losing my sister's left arm that I would have cried my eyeballs out of the eye sockets even though I know it wouldn't help. I even thought how stupid I was to even joke about how the world would be a better place without her existence. Through this unfortunate incident, I learned how important siblings, family, and friends are in one's life. As for my sister, she really do have a lot of friends who do sincerely care for her, who paid a visit to our crib, who willingly drove her around (p/s: I've got no driver now! Man! ) and that made her realise "there are a lot of love and care out there despite the cruel existence of those willing to hurt others for mere materials" and had shown her "how important family and friends are to any individual" By the way, I find it necessary to say that she is recuperating fast and she owes me big time! I know you'll read this soon enough, OKU. Haha!!

My Disatisfaction.

  • I don't really see the need to online these days. Thus, the long absence here. I guess I've been so caught up with Midnight Sun that nothing I do is more interesting than reading it. And now I'm starting to wonder where are all my friends? It's been like so long since the last time I even talked to them. But then again, maybe I'm so busy preparing for Sam Tet's gathering and reading Midnight Sun that I didn't have the time to catch up with them. So to the gang who is reading this right now, WE NEED TO CATCH UP WITH EACH OTHER SOON!! :D

  • I really reckon that Midnight Sun is a better version of Twilight. Maybe its because I'd like to know what's in Edward's mind instead of Bella's thoughts. I also personally liked the way Stephenie Meyer changed the perspective of a vampire to most people. Its just the way she describes a situation, a feeling,an emotion, a character that had me wanting for more. And Twilight the movie is really not as bad as what everybody's saying these days. I mean, c'mon! It is a low-budget movie after all. Give the director and actors/actresses some credits! They weren't that bad. I can't even think of a better Edward that could have been casted. And the scene effects could be better, no doubt but lets be reminded that it is a low-budget movie. Yes, the movie is not as detailed as the book but it's still not bad, at least? Maybe all these critics that are being thrown at the movie is because there are a lot of people who are into this Twilight Saga and that by not liking it, they'd be different. Or their expectation was just a little bit to high. This is just my opinion. Everyone has their own opinion. So please do not be offended.

  • Sometimes when you're a sincere friend to someone, that someone might not be as sincere to you as you are to him/her. And it bugs me. It bugs me that I actually do bother to keep in touch but you're not bothered. It bugs me cos its as though I'm being used. I guess this is how life works and all I can do is to accept it. So, thanks for everything, friend and good luck with your life.

The Unexpected Meet

The following is the most interesting thing that happened yesterday night :

As usual, I went with my dad to buy newspaper and bread at a newspaper stand. Specifically Sin Chew Jit Poh. Okay, that's not the point. Anyway, I was walking towards the stand and I saw this woman yang bertudung from afar. She looks so familiar, I thought so. I shrugged it off and grabbed the newspaper. This time I could see the other side of that familiar looking woman. I spotted a mole on her right cheek.
BAM! No one can ever miss that mole, I tell yah.
It's Puan Sharifah alright! my witty English teacher. So, being an obedient student, I went over to greet her.

Me : Heeyyy, teacher!

Tea : * Looks over to her right, wide-eyed, mouth hanging wide open with her right hand held up to her chin * Oh dear, Eva! You almost gave me the shock of my life! Where did you come from? How did you.. Why are you here???

Me : Uh, I'm here to buy newspaper and bread. And I came with my dad. * Points towards my dad's car * Haha.

Tea : Ohhhh, I see. So how was SPM?

Me : * Gives her the sweat face * Um, teacher. I'm still in Form 4, remember?

Tea : * Wide-eyed with her signature hand gestures* Ohhhhhh! Yeah. I went to school today and those girls were screaming so loudly. You people better not make so much noise next year.

Me : Yeah, right ( under my breath ) Soo teacher, what are you doing here anyway?

Tea : I just came back from my dinner and I need to buy some bread for breakfast tomorrow. So happy holidays and see you next year, Evon. Bye! * walks back to her car *

Me : Happy holidays to you too teacher. And it's Eva. For the millionth time. ( Mutters under my breath )

When you never expect something to happen, for example, bumping into your English teacher in a newspaper stand, it has a bigger chance to happen, does it??

Moscovitz Discovery.

Made an amazing discovery today! I was watching The Princess Diaries for umpteen times and as usual, drooling over Michael Moscovitz ( points above ). So I Wikipedia-ed him and guess what?? He's actually the front man/lead singer of the band Rooney! The band who brought you the smashing hit 'When Did Your Heart Go Missing' which was featured in Gossip Girls. He is also Nicolas Cage's cousin. He was 17 when he was casted as Michael. Now, he's 25 and has facial hair. Not as attractive as back when he was 17 though. Okay, it ain't exactly an amazing discovery but still ...

The Unlucky One.

What do you do when you come back home one day from tuition to find that your computer ain't working?

What do you do when you tried to see what went wrong only to find the phone line was black, thanks to the lightning that chose to strike your line of all the other people in the neighbourhood?

What do you do when you just lost your most important tool to keep in touch with the world outside your house?

You sleep. You eat. You watch the idiot box. You play a few tunes on the guitar and piano. You read a couple of good books while tucking yourself in a comfy blanket. You walk to Ipoh Swimming Club cos you feel fat after all the pigging out. Yes, that was what I did for a week until this baby was fixed! I swear I could almost hear "Hallelujah" at the back of my head. (:
P/S: I just noticed that there are some angmohs who walk past my house occasionally. (There weren't anything better to do since the comp died) With their dogs. That means they do stay in my neighbourhood. That also means I need to do some walking around my neighbourhood.

The Amazing Chair.

My computer chair can do what a normal chair cannot do.
Behold the amazing chair, the chair that cures constipation!
I'm serious. Place your butt on it and next thing you know you'll be flying to the toilet with your hands placed on ur bottom.
I just did it. Again.
(:

I'm running out of ideas of what to blog about these days.
Been catching up on movies that I missed.
Foon & Spork is miserable.
And I think I am the one to blame. Geez.
