Before I write this post, I would like to justify my long absence from Foon & Spork. I guess there's always an excuse why isn't my blog updated. (: This time, I would say so many things happened ( including life-threatening experience ) consecutively that leaving Foon & Spork to collect dust and ignoring my social life for now seems to be the right thing to do. So, please do accept my utmost sincere apology,my fellow loyal readers ( if there are any ) !
Firstly, I would like to write a bit about the Sam Tet's 48th Annual Gathering. Most of you all know that the fees charged was RM 25.00 ( the most costly gathering I've ever attended so far) by now. Considering it has been almost a week since the gathering was held. RM25.00 is considered as a big sum of cash in a poor student's world, like me! And yet, I insisted to go for this event cos I know this gathering would probably be the last one that I'll ever attend due to SPM next year. I insisted to go even though the attendance from most schools were abysmal. I insisted to go even though the fees was an absurd amount even if God-knows how much from that amount was for charity. Not to mention, their lack of time management skills. I admit that I thought this gathering was a waste of money and time and the lamest gathering ever by midday. Absolutely convinced, in fact cos of the oh-so-poor attendance from most schools except for Poi Lam, of course. By night, by the time I set my foot into Yuk Choy's Hall, I would say 39th Kinta Troop gained back my respect. The decorations, the backdrop, the jaw-dropping gadget at the entrance of the hall blew me away. The decorations especially! That 'wow' factor did not stop there. When they gave away cheques to representatives of a few old folks' home and children's home, I definitely felt I did the right thing to attend this gathering. It feels good to know that you probably contributed to the little and elderly ones in making their lives a better one or maybe even made this year's Christmas celebration a remarkable one to them. I guess that truly is the true meaning of Christmas. A season of giving!

Now, for the life threatening experience, it didn't occur to me. It was my sister. This incident not only taught a few life lessons to her, but also to me. She was recently robbed by an armed man in the worst place to raise a child ( maybe just to me cos I'm sort of a small town kid ), KL. The aftermath? A deep slash on her left arm. Deep enough to cut her nerve. I can imagine the blood splattering out. Shudders* It's funny how money can make humans act so inhumanely, right? The moment of realisation for me was I was so close to losing my sister, okay maybe losing my sister's left arm that I would have cried my eyeballs out of the eye sockets even though I know it wouldn't help. I even thought how stupid I was to even joke about how the world would be a better place without her existence. Through this unfortunate incident, I learned how important siblings, family, and friends are in one's life. As for my sister, she really do have a lot of friends who do sincerely care for her, who paid a visit to our crib, who willingly drove her around (p/s: I've got no driver now! Man! ) and that made her realise "there are a lot of love and care out there despite the cruel existence of those willing to hurt others for mere materials" and had shown her "how important family and friends are to any individual" By the way, I find it necessary to say that she is recuperating fast and she owes me big time! I know you'll read this soon enough, OKU. Haha!!
